Do I have to go up on the exact date I selected?

  • No. The date you select when purchasing is only used to determine whether your visit falls under peak season or low season, as ticket prices differ between these periods.
  • If you select a peak season date (for example, July 16): You can use the ticket on any date within the peak season period
    (May 1 – October 31, 2026)
  • If you select a low season date (for example, April 3 or November 14): You can use the ticket on any date within the low season period (January 1 – April 30, 2026 or November 1 – December 12, 2026)
  • GoByTrain tip: Before heading up, we recommend checking the live mountain webcam (click here) to see the weather conditions, and decide whether to adjust your travel date accordingly.

Friendly Reminder: Seat Reservation Required in Peak Season

  • During the peak season (May 1–Oct 31, 2026), a seat reservation is mandatory for round trips to Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe from either Eigergletscher (via Eiger Express cable car) or Kleine Scheidegg (via Jungfraubahn).
  • When selecting a travel date between May and October on the website, you will see the option to add a Jungfraujoch seat reservation, which covers the round-trip (ascent and descent) sections to and from Jungfraujoch.
  • If you have added a seat reservation to your booking, please make sure to provide the following details (cannot be changed once selected):
    • Intended travel date to Jungfraujoch (YYYY/MM/DD)
    • Preferred ascent / descent time (e.g. 09:04)
    • Expected duration of stay at the summit (e.g. 1.5 hours)
  • If you are unable to descend at your originally reserved time, you cannot use the reserved boarding lane for that specific departure. However, you may still queue in the regular (non-reserved) line to take a later train down.

I have a Swiss Travel Pass. Is the Jungfraujoch Ticket (from/to Grindelwald ) suitable for me?

  • Yes, it is suitable.
  • With a Swiss Travel Pass, you can already travel free of charge on trains from Interlaken Ost to Grindelwald / Lauterbrunnen / Wengen. Therefore, you only need to purchase a Jungfraujoch ticket from Grindelwald or Wengen, covering the round trip to the Jungfraujoch via different ascent and descent routes.
  • Friendly Reminder: Regardless of which Jungfraujoch ticket you purchase, if you choose the Swiss Travel Pass discounted fare, the day you use the Jungfraujoch ticket will also count as a travel day on your Swiss Travel Pass. You will need to present both tickets when redeeming and during ticket inspection. If you are using a Eurail Pass, the Jungfraujoch travel day does not count as a travel day on your Eurail Pass.

Do children need a ticket to go up Jungfraujoch?

  • Children under 6 years old can travel free of charge and do not need a ticket.
  • Children aged 6 to under 16 can travel free with a Swiss Family Card, when accompanied by an adult holding a Swiss Travel Pass or Half Fare Card. (The Family Card can be issued at no cost together with the adult’s pass.)
  • If a child aged 6 to under 16 does not have a Swiss Family Card, a child ticket (CHF 20) must be purchased on this page.
  • Important: Regardless of whether the child travels for free or with a paid ticket, seat reservations are still required during peak season.
