Southern Kyushu Rail Pass

This pass is valid for use in the Southern Kyushu region, including major areas such as Oita, Kumamoto, Aso, Miyazaki, and Kagoshima.

It can be used on the following train services in areas south of Kumamoto, Misumi, and Oita:

• Local, Rapid, and Limited Express trains operated by JR Kyushu
• The Kyushu Shinkansen (Kumamoto – Kagoshima-Chuo)
• Reserved and non-reserved seats on all Shinkansen services (Mizuho, Sakura, Tsubame, Kamome) within the designated area

The following trains and services are not covered by the pass:

• Kamome, Sonic, Relay Kamome, Midori, Huis Ten Bosch, Magpie (Kamoshika), Futatsuboshi 4047, Yufuin no Mori, Yufu
• The Shinkansen segment between Kokura and Hakata
• Subways, buses, and railways operated by other companies or organizations
• JR Kyushu Buses, B&S Miyazaki Bus,
• Sightseeing trains including Seven Stars in Kyushu, Aru Ressha (Sweet Train), and KANPACHI / ICHIROKU

Note: The JR Southern Kyushu Rail Pass cannot be used for the Shinkansen segment between Hakata and Kokura, as this section is part of the Sanyo Shinkansen operated by JR West.

Kumamoto → Aso → Miyaji or Kurokawa Onsen｜Sightseeing Train “Aso Boy!”
A scenic route through Kyushu’s natural landscapes; “Aso Boy!” is a family-friendly train, ideal to pair with a Kurokawa Onsen stay on the same trip.

Miyazaki → Nango｜Sightseeing Train “Umisachi Yamasachi”
Enjoy stunning coastal views along the Nichinan Line with large scenic windows and interiors made of local wood. Fully covered by the rail pass with no extra seat reservation fee.

1. Please book your tickets at a JR Kyushu “Midori no Madoguchi” (ticket office) or reserved seat ticket vending machine, for free within the following guidelines. All kyushu - Unlimited Reservation; Northern kyushu - Up to 6 times Reservations; Southern kyushu - Up to 6 times Reservations. Reserved seats booked in advance through JR KYUSHU RAIL PASS Online Booking are not included in the above-mentioned booking limit.
   • When reserving seats, it may be more convenient to fill out the seat reservation application form in advance.

   • The seats that can be reserved without additional charges are limited to “reserved seats.” If you use a Green Car seat, you will need to pay extra.
