Day 1 – Arrival in Montreux

Montreux, with its mild and pleasant climate, is the capital of the canton of Vaud. Its long lakeside promenade, filled with blooming flowers, connects Vevey and Montreux and extends all the way to Chillon Castle. Stroll along the promenade to enjoy stunning views of Lake Geneva and the snow-capped glaciers of nearby Mont Blanc.

Montreux

Montreux, located on the shores of Lake Geneva in western Switzerland, is a picturesque resort town known for its mild climate, stunning lake and mountain views, and vibrant cultural scene. It has long attracted famous residents and visitors, including Freddie Mercury of Queen. Montreux hosts the world-renowned Montreux Jazz Festival every summer. The town is also home to the famous Château de Chillon, one of Switzerland’s most visited historic landmarks.

Day 2: Montreux – Gruyères

From Vevey, you can take the cogwheel railway up to Mont-Pèlerin (tickets for this segment must be purchased on-site). Quiet roads then lead you to the birthplace of one of Switzerland’s most beloved cheeses: Gruyère cheese.
The Gruyère region unfolds like a lush green landscape painting, looking up toward the picturesque medieval town of Gruyères, world-famous as the home of Gruyère cheese. This charming hilltop town sits peacefully atop a small rise, offering postcard-perfect views in every direction.

Gruyère

Gruyères is a picturesque medieval hilltop town in the canton of Fribourg, best known as the birthplace of the world-famous Gruyère cheese. Surrounded by rolling green landscapes and Alpine views, the town features charming cobblestone streets, traditional Swiss architecture, and the historic Château de Gruyères, making it one of Switzerland’s most enchanting destinations.

Day 3 Gruyère – Gstaad

On this day, you become the protagonist of your own postcard—riding between fairy-tale chalets, snowy mountains, and cable cars. As you leave the pastoral scenery behind, a magnificent panorama opens before you, and your presence turns the landscape into a one-of-a-kind postcard moment.
Academy Award winner Julie Andrews once said, “Gstaad is the last paradise in a crazy world.” Legend has it that when God created the world, He paused to rest—His handprint forming the Saanenland region. The five fingers shaped the valleys, with Gstaad nestled gently among them. When your eyes wander across such natural beauty, it is hard not to believe in something divine.
Surrounded by lakes, mountains, and pure Alpine air lie the humble villages and their signature wooden chalets.

Day 4 Gstaad – Lake Thun

Soon after, Gstaad presents an uphill stretch. As you struggle on your bike, you might spot a vintage train passing by, while your eyes take in the breathtaking mountains and the charming local wooden chalets. The lake route continues through storybook Swiss scenery all the way to Zweisimmen, following the course of the river along the way.

Spiez on Lake Thun is a paradise for water sports and an enchanting travel destination. Nestled between mountains and vineyards, it is dominated by a magnificent, towering castle. From here, the Niederhorn mountains stretch across the lake, blending seamlessly into the Bernese Alps and creating a spectacular panoramic view.

Spiez

Spiez is a picturesque town located on the southern shore of Lake Thun in the Bernese Oberland region of Switzerland. Known for its stunning lakeside setting, vineyards, and majestic mountains, Spiez offers a perfect blend of natural beauty and cultural charm. The town is dominated by the impressive Spiez Castle, perched above the lake with panoramic views of the surrounding Alps.

Day 5 Lake Thun – Lake Sarnen

From the deep-blue Lake Thun to the emerald waters of Lake Brienz, your journey continues to the charming town of Interlaken, nestled among the majestic peaks of Mt. Eiger, Mt. Monk, and the Jungfraujoch.

Bönigen, at the eastern tip of Lake Brienz, marks the start of a peaceful lakeside ride, almost free from motorized traffic—truly a cyclist’s paradise. As you pedal through forests, gasping and ready to give up, the breathtaking Giessbach Falls appears, inviting you to surrender to nature and let the fresh mountain air wash away your fatigue.

Passing Dundelbach Falls and the Lungern-Turren cableway, you can enjoy a leisurely ride along Lake Lungern, continue through Giswil (exploring the Schacherseppli trail), and cross the Steinibach stream, eventually reaching the crystal-clear Lake Sarnen.

The itinerary includes a Brienz–Interlaken boat ticket but does not cover the Meringen–Brünig train section.

Sarnen

Day 6 Lake Sarnen – Lucerne

Leaving the picturesque town of Sarnen, you first pass through Alpnach, nestled along Lake Alpnach. As you follow the lakeside route, Lake Lucerne comes into view, with the majestic Mount Pilatus rising nearby.

Lucerne, situated on the shores of Lake Lucerne amidst unforgettable mountain scenery, is an ideal starting point for exploring central Switzerland. From here, you can easily reach Mount Rigi, Mount Pilatus, and Stanserhorn. Lucerne serves as a gateway to the Alps, offering travelers access to one of the most enchanting corners of the world. The German name of Lake Lucerne, Vierwaldstättersee, originally referred to the four historic “forest cantons” (Waldstätten) that surround the lake: Uri, Schwyz, Unterwalden, and Lucerne. This region symbolizes Swiss freedom, as the people of Uri, Schwyz, and Unterwalden signed the Rütli Oath in 1291, laying the foundation for the Swiss Confederation.

Pilatus

You can reach the summit aboard the world’s steepest cogwheel railway and enjoy panoramic views of Lucerne. Transportation: With the Swiss Travel Pass, take a scenic boat ride to the base of Mt. Pilatus, then transfer to the cogwheel railway up the mountain. For the return trip, take the aerial cableway down. A separate ticket is required for Mt. Pilatus transportation. Toboggan Ride – Rodelbahn Fräkigaudi : Located at the Fräkmüntegg ridge. Operating mid-Apr to Oct, with each ride costing around CHF 9.

Titlis

With the world’s first 360-degree rotating aerial cable car ( Rotair ), visitors are taken to the mountain summit — a separate ticket for Mount Titlis transportation is required. In contrast, hiking up Mount Ristis, also in Engelberg, is free of charge.

FAQs

How long do we ride each day?

This is an e-bike route, with daily riding of about 3 hours (40–60 km), not including photo stops. The advantage of e-bikes is that you can turn off the motor and pedal on your own whenever you like.

What if the bike breaks down?

Switzerland has 130 public “Rent A Bike” stations where repairs can be done. There is also a hotline to find the nearest station.
