Tour Highlights
Departing from Munich, enjoy a day exploring King Ludwig II’s fairytale castles in the Bavarian Alps: Neuschwanstein Castle and Linderhof Palace.
A bilingual (English/German) guide will lead the tour.
You’ll also stop in Oberammergau for souvenir shopping.
Neuschwanstein Castle, perched above Hohenschwangau, was commissioned by Ludwig in 1869. Known as the inspiration for Disney’s iconic castle and logo, it features swan motifs throughout and even a man‑made grotto with a lake. Ludwig spent nearly two decades building it, but tragically died just 200 days after moving in.
Linderhof Palace is the smallest of Ludwig’s three castles—and the only one completed during his lifetime (from 1876) . Designed in elaborate Rococo style with Oriental influences, its grounds include features like the Venus Grotto and Moorish Kiosk
Ludwig’s extravagant spending on these palaces drained Bavaria’s treasury. In June 1886, he was deposed for alleged madness and found dead in Lake Starnberg shortly after—his mysterious death remains an enduring enigma.
