Portugal boasts a mild climate, abundant sunshine, and a mix of vibrant cities, traditional villages, and centuries-old vineyards. Traveling by train is a convenient way to explore major destinations across the country, including Lisbon, Porto, Faro, and Coimbra.
In Europe, train travel involves two parts: the ticket and the seat reservation. A rail pass counts as your ticket. When it comes to reserving a seat, requirements vary by train type and route—some trains require mandatory reservations, others recommend reservations, while many allow travel without a reservation.
The Portugal Rail Pass is valid for unlimited travel during the pass’s validity period on routes operated by the national railway company, CP (Comboios de Portugal). Please note that the pass does not cover seat reservations, meals, or sleeper charges.
