FAQs

What is the dress code on board?

The motto is "you can never be overdressed". Formal evening attire is required for dinner, with many men wearing black tie and women in glamorous gowns. During the day, smart casual wear is appropriate (e.g., a jacket and tie for lunch), but jeans are not acceptable at any time.

Is there Wi-Fi available?

Wi-Fi is provided in all guest cabins. However, because the service relies on mobile data, the signal may be intermittent in rural areas. To preserve the train's historic ambiance, guests are asked to restrict the use of mobile phones and electronic devices to their private cabins.

How much luggage can I bring into my cabin?

Due to space constraints, cabin luggage is strictly limited to one piece of hand luggage, one suit carrier or overnight bag (kept in your cabin), and one suitcase to be stored in the baggage car. Please note that luggage in the baggage car is not accessible during the journey.

Currency and Payment?

All items on the vehicle are priced in Euros; it is recommended to carry a small amount of Euro cash for small purchases. Accepted payment methods: In addition to cash, most major currencies and major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Diners Club, and JCB) are accepted.

Pre-Departure Tips

A Legend Reborn : Venice Simplon Orient Express (VSOE)

The story of the Orient Express began in 1883. As the first luxury long-distance train in history to cross international borders, it connected Paris to Istanbul, carrying the whispered secrets of royalty, diplomats, spies, and literary icons.

The Muse of Agatha Christie:
The legendary Carriage No. 3309 standing before you is the very heart of mystery. In 1929, it was famously trapped in a snowdrift in Turkey for ten days—an extraordinary event that inspired the Queen of Crime to pen her masterpiece, Murder on the Orient Express.

A Masterpiece of Art Deco:
The interiors are a living gallery, curated by Art Deco masters Rene Prou and Rene Lalique. Every polished wood marquetry and etched glass lamp has been painstakingly recovered from museums and private collections across Europe. No expense was spared in their restoration, all to recreate the golden age of travel from a century ago.

An Ultimate Sensory Feast: Luxury Defined Only by VSOE
Onboard the VSOE, every moment is a theatrical ritual of elegance:

A Moving Feast: Haute Gastronomy
Led by a team of world-class French chefs, the cuisine transforms top-tier seasonal ingredients—from Brittany lobsters to Northern Italian truffles—into edible art. Amidst the gentle clinking of fine silverware and crystal, you are not just tasting a meal, but savoring a cross-border map of exquisite flavors.

Bar Car ‘3674’: The Soul of Social Life
As night falls, this becomes the most enchanting social hub in all of Europe. We invite you to don your Black Tie attire and join fellow travelers from around the globe. To the elegant melodies of our resident pianist, sip chilled champagne and feel time stand still in its most perfect moment.
