Welcome aboard this cozy “floating home”! Boarding begins at 4:30 PM, and at 7:00 PM you will meet your guide, captain, and crew for a welcome briefing, accompanied by your first refreshing aperitif. We recommend entering Europe via Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP) and then taking the train to Mantua (Mantova) to board the ship.
Day 2: Mantua (City Walk & Evening City Tour) / Overnight on River Cruise
Expand
You will have a full day to explore this gem of a city, which is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Mantua is surrounded by three picturesque lakes formed by the Mincio River, and its surrounding countryside was once ruled by the Gonzaga family. Often referred to as Italy’s “Sleeping Beauty,” the city offers a charming blend of history, art, and architecture. In the afternoon, a local guide will take you to visit several of the town’s most famous sights.
[Biking] Mantua City Tour (Approx. 35 km by bike) Starting from Piazza Sordello, home to the magnificent cathedral and Ducal Palace, you will cycle through the city center and arrive at Piazza delle Erbe. Here, you will admire the Clock Tower, the Rotonda of San Lorenzo (the city’s oldest church), and the Renaissance treasure of Cathedral of St. Andrew. You will learn why Mantua, once ruled by the Gonzaga family, is now considered Italy’s “Sleeping Beauty.”
Please note: the itinerary may be adjusted depending on local conditions.
Day 3: Mantua – Governolo – Zelo / Overnight on River Cruise
Expand
A short cruise along the Mincio River will take us to Governolo, where our cycling adventure begins. Governolo is the point where the Mincio River flows into the Po River. Heading north, the ship passes through lush wetlands before entering the magnificent Mantua “lake district.”
[Cruise] Mantua – Governolo [Biking] Governolo – Zelo (approx. 50 km by bike)
Cycling along the Po River, we pass through Ostiglia, known for its medieval fortress and as a historic site of intense battles in 1945, when the Allied forces and Italian partisans expelled Nazi troops.
Next, we reach Bergantino, famous for its unique amusement museum, which houses a collection of carefully restored street organs producing powerful and striking sounds. Our day concludes with an overnight stay in the small village of Zelo.
Morning Departure: Pick up your bicycle labeled with your name, attach your saddlebag, pack your lunch and water bottle, and set off! We will explore the heart of Grana Padano country—this renowned cheese is a major competitor to Parmesan. After visiting a local cheese factory, we will taste rich, aged Grana Padano, paired with a glass of Valpolicella wine, adding a delicious touch to the morning.
Day 4: Zelo – Ferrara – Adria / Overnight on River Cruise
Expand
After a short cruise, we begin today’s ride, cycling along the Po River through farmland and small villages toward Ferrara, another city designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Under the rule of the Este family, this city attracted architects, artists, and scholars for centuries, pioneering urban planning principles that have since been widely adopted around the world. Today, the University of Ferrara remains one of Italy’s top institutions, and the city is proudly known as “Italy’s Cycling Capital.”
[Biking] Zelo – Ferrara (approx. 50 km) [Bus] Ferrara – Adria (approx. 60 km)
The terrain here is completely flat, with bike paths throughout the city. Whether you are pedaling through the medieval old town or leisurely riding along the historic city walls, every moment feels like a gentle conversation with time.
In Ferrara, cycling is a way of life—locals glide gracefully through the streets, giving the entire city a relaxed, unhurried rhythm. Visiting here is more than sightseeing; you truly immerse yourself in an easygoing, cultured Italian lifestyle.
At lunchtime, stroll through the cobblestone streets of this ancient town and explore its historic center, still enclosed by its medieval layout. Afterwards, a private bus will take you from Ferrara to Adria, an ancient Greek port once famed for trading Baltic amber.
Throughout the ride, we stop at cafés every 1–2 hours for a break—coffee, restroom, and a moment to recharge.
Day 5: Adria – Po Delta – Chioggia/Pellestrina / Overnight on River Cruise
Expand
Today’s program is an exciting combination of boating and cycling as we explore the Po Delta, a unique wetland reserve that serves as a protected habitat for herons and several species of flamingos.
[Biking] Adria – Po Delta Nature Reserve [Biking] Po Delta Nature Reserve – Chioggia/Pellestrina (total approx. 40 km)
We then follow the waterways connecting the Po River to Brondolo, pass the Adige River—which winds down from the Dolomites—and continue north toward the Venetian Lagoon. Our destination for the night is Chioggia, affectionately known as “Little Venice,” a vibrant and colorful fishing port.
Day 6: Chioggia/Pellestrina – Venice / Overnight on River Cruise
Expand
In the morning, we recommend visiting the local fish market before heading to Chioggia’s millennium-old bell tower, considered the oldest of its kind in the world. From the top, you will enjoy unmatched views and magnificent scenery.
[Cruise] Chioggia/Pellestrina – Lido Island [Biking] Lido Island – Venice (approx. 30 km)
We then continue by bicycle and boat to enjoy the landscapes of the lagoon and its islands. Our ship will take us to Pellestrina, a peaceful fishing village where we ride past charming houses and traditional fishing boats. From there, a public ferry brings us to Lido di Venezia.
After a short island-hop by ferry, we arrive on the Lido, which has been a fashionable retreat since the Belle Époque and today hosts the Venice International Film Festival, attracting celebrities from around the world. We will also visit a historic glass factory on Murano Island, where a master glassblower will demonstrate the art of traditional glassmaking. Afterward, we rejoin our barge and enjoy a leisurely cruise toward St. Mark’s Square, arriving at our final destination.
After dinner, take your time to savor Venice at night—free from the daytime crowds and at her most romantic. Welcome to Venice!
Day 7: Venice (City Tour Included) / Overnight on River Cruise
Expand
Venice’s city center carries a distinctly exotic atmosphere and is best explored on foot—even if its maze-like streets may cause you to lose your way from time to time. This magical city is truly a jewel rising from the water, where remarkable historical and artistic achievements coexist in delicate balance with the lagoon landscape.
UNESCO regards Venice not only as an artistic treasure, but also as an outstanding example of harmonious coexistence between human activity and the natural lagoon environment. There is no doubt that Venice has always been inseparable from water. During the Middle Ages, the Venetian navy was one of the most powerful in the world, and maritime trade with the East formed the foundation of the city’s economy.
Because of the reflection and refraction of light, the colors of the water shift endlessly, inspiring countless artists such as Titian, Giorgione, and Bellini. Their works, known collectively as the Venetian School, have given Venetian culture and art a distinctive and enduring brilliance.
Day8 Venice
Expand
After breakfast, your journey comes to an end. We recommend taking a train to Milan, the design capital of Italy, where you can enjoy shopping and free time—perfect for fulfilling the pleasures and expectations of a trip to Italy.
You may also choose to extend your stay in nearby Verona, the hometown of Romeo and Juliet, or continue on to other destinations in Italy.
Short Trip Recommendation: Lake Como (Lago di Como)
Lake Como, Italy’s third-largest lake and close to the Swiss border, is one of Europe’s most famous summer retreats. Long beloved by writers and poets, the region has inspired generations who preferred the tranquility of lakeside life over the bustle of the city.
It is also the romantic setting where Anakin Skywalker and Padmé Amidala fell in love in Star Wars—many couples even choose this location for their wedding photos! From Milan’s central station, it takes only two hours to reach this idyllic “back garden of Milan.”
