- In Hallstatt, you can enjoy a leisurely lakeside stroll, walk past the Mühlbach Waterfall, take a funicular up to the salt mine that once made the town prosperous, or head to the Skywalk for a spectacular 360° panoramic view of the village. You can also visit the famous Bone House, where due to limited cemetery space, bones are exhumed every ten years and placed in painted ossuary jars, each marked with the deceased’s name, occupation, and date of death.
