2026 Winter Olympics

The 2026 Winter Olympics (Milano Cortina 2026) will be held in northern Italy, with events spanning Milan, Cortina d’Ampezzo, and the Dolomiti (Dolomites) mountain range. This will be the first Winter Olympics presented in a “city + Alpine ski area” format, combining world-class transport, stunning mountain scenery, and top ski resorts, making the Dolomites a global hotspot for skiing enthusiasts.

The officially announced 2026 Winter Olympics competition venues are mainly located in the following areas:

  • Cortina d’Ampezzo – Women’s alpine skiing and most skiing events, curling, and wheelchair curling
  • Livigno – Freestyle & Snowboard events
  • Stelvio Ski Centre (Bormio) – Men’s alpine skiing
  • Tofane Alpine Skiing Centre (Cortina) – Women’s alpine skiing
  • Predazzo – Ski jumping (part of Nordic Combined)
  • Tesero – Cross-country skiing (part of Nordic Combined)
  • Verona – Closing ceremony venue
  • Milan – Opening ceremony, indoor ice sports, athlete village, cultural experiences

Although the 2026 northern Italy Winter Olympics will make venues like Cortina d’Ampezzo, Predazzo, and Tesero the center of global attention, for skiing enthusiasts, the must-visit classic in the Dolomites remains the Sella Ronda. Every skier should experience this iconic route.

⛷️ Why Sella Ronda is Famous

Sella Ronda is a ski circuit around the Sella massif, approximately 40 km long, and can be skied clockwise (Orange Route) or counterclockwise (Green Route). It connects four well-known valleys and ski areas:

  • Val Gardena (Ortisei, Santa Cristina, Selva)
  • Alta Badia (La Villa, Corvara)
  • Arabba
  • Val di Fassa (Canazei)

The highlights of Sella Ronda include:

  • Completely avoiding official Winter Olympics competition venues, allowing skiers to enjoy uninterrupted runs
  • Skiing through multiple ski areas in one route, with stunning scenery of the Dolomites’ iconic peaks and valleys
  • Diverse slopes, ranging from blue to red, suitable for intermediate and advanced skiers
  • Alpine huts and mountain restaurants along the way, perfect for enjoying authentic Alpine cuisine
