A Complete Guide: From Activation and Boarding to Exclusive Benefits
Step 1: Check Your Ticket Information
Once you receive your electronic ticket (PDF file), please verify that the following information matches your passport exactly:
- Passenger name and date of birth.
- Number of travel days, ticket type (class), and start date.
- Swiss Family Card: If you are travelling with children aged 6–15, ensure their names are also correct.
Step 2: Obtain Your QR Code (Operation by Ticket Type)
- Consecutive Pass: This is the simplest version! Your PDF file itself is your ticket. During inspection, simply present the QR code found within the file.
- Flex Pass: This works similarly to a "stamp card" and requires manual activation. Scan the activation QR code on your PDF or visit activateyourpass.com. Select your intended travel date and click "Activate Tickets." The system will generate a unique QR code for that specific day, which serves as your valid ticket.
Step 3: Boarding and Ticket Inspection
- No gate entry required: Most Swiss train stations do not have gates or card readers. You can enter the platforms and board the trains freely.
- Prepare for inspection: When an inspector walks through the carriage, please present your QR code (either a digital screenshot or a printed copy) along with your original passport for verification.
- Free seating: Most trains do not require seat reservations. You may sit in any available seat that is not marked as "Reserved."
Step 4: Download the SBB Mobile App for Schedules
Although this pass does not need to be synced to the SBB App, it is highly recommended to download the SBB Mobile App. It is an essential travel tool for checking real-time timetables, platform numbers, and transfer information.
